LFPWLI: Cheryl Marth - The long-term impacts of growing up with a narcissistic mother and how to find healing
In this episode, Mathew, Troy, and Cheryl discuss the long-term impacts of growing up in dysfunction, being raised by a narcissistic parent, and how she is now shedding beliefs that no longer work for her. Cheryl opens up about feeling different, the shock of realizing she was being manipulated, and how she is learning to set and enforce boundaries. She also talks about the ongoing struggles with her family and the importance of personal growth as she is now a mother herself.
Cheryl Marth grew up with a narcissistic mother and has found ways to thrive on the other side of it after she reestablished her self-worth. After losing her father at the age of 18, she had to navigate an increasingly difficult relationship with her family. Throughout her life, she has been on a journey of identifying harmful generational patterns and doing the hard work of a transitional character.
“You'll never know where learning and inspiration will come from.”
In this episode, you'll hear:
Why it’s so hard to make boundaries when you're hurt and how to get to a healed place
The dictionary definition of narcissism and the experiences of people who have experienced it
Tools Cheryl has developed that are helping in adulthood
