LFPWLI: Stephanie is Breaking the Cycle: Escaping Abusive Relationships, Finding Healing, and Looking Forward to the Future
In this episode, Mathew, Dr. Frank, and Stephanie discuss her journey, the trauma she has gone through in her life, and how she is working to heal. Stephanie was separated from her biological mother early on and grew up with the man she knew as her father. Unfortunately, he was a known drug user and her childhood was unstable and filled with abuse and violence. She moved out the day she turned 18 and quickly became pregnant with her long-time boyfriend. Eventually, he started cheating on her and she was faced with the dilemma of leaving because she knew she deserved better or staying because she had a newborn and wanted to make it work. After she left him, she quickly found herself in another relationship with an abusive man. She became pregnant again and the manipulation only got worse from there. The abuse led to a suicide attempt and Stephanie self-admitted to the psych ward for three days.
Flash forward to now, Stephanie has a new job and is rebuilding her relationships with her mom and sister. She is looking forward to the future, continuing her journey of healing and self-discovery, and is learning to create new boundaries for her own well-being. She wants others to know that they are not alone and that healing is possible.
“The fault of how you got there is so much less important than the responsibility that you take to move yourself out of there.”
In this episode, you'll hear:
Why do children in unstable situations oftentimes find themselves repeating bad behavior
The reason you have to recreate new boundaries when you get to a healed state
The importance of receiving a correct diagnosis]

Facing Loss and Finding Forgiveness: The Reality of Caring for Dying Parents with Sue Ketterer
In this episode, Mathew, Troy, and Sue discuss her journey of becoming a caregiver to her parents, first her father and then her mother, and how their deaths impacted her. She talks about the challenges and emotional toll of watching her parents decline and eventually pass away. Sue also tells us that despite the immense loss and heartache, she found strength and resilience.
Sue recalls the open and honest conversations about end-of-life care decisions she had with her mother and shines a light on the painful realities of taking someone off life support. After losing her mother, Sue felt a deep sense of guilt and responsibility but found solace and healing through Spiritualism and The Four Agreements, which taught her to stop judging others to find forgiveness for herself.
Sue honors her parents in death by regularly speaking to them and about them, and she finds comfort in holding space for grief and being there for others. Despite the pain of loss, she believes that forgiveness and self-love are crucial in finding peace. PLEASE MAKE SURE you stick around til the end to hear Sue read the poem, you'll be glad you did.
“Your words can be poison or they can be magic.”
