LFPWLI: Mathew Blades Mental Health Retreat Debrief
In the summer of 2021, Mathew decided to walk away from his successful career as a radio personality. He made that decision after "working things out" over 4 days at SpiritQuest, a holistic mental and spiritual retreat. This podcast is a recording he made a few weeks post-treatment. He sat in his studio alone and hit the record button. If he said it to a therapist it's on the podcast. If he thought it, it's here.
In this episode, Mathew discusses his Set Points, how they were “mathewfesting”, and the water ceremony that marked his ascent into a new life. He opens up about why he needed to go to a mental health retreat in the first place, the physical pain his emotions and stress were causing, and how moving away from fear and into love is how he has found peace. We learn about the inner child, the power of sound therapy, and the role of anger. In the end, we hear how Mathew came to enjoy the process of healing and embrace his role as a transitional character.
“It doesn't matter that it happened. It only matters that you heal it”
In this episode, you'll hear:
What Set Points are and how they impact our lives
A live recording from Mathew's inner child healing session
Self care what it really means and understanding our responsibility

Head up to the Troon area of Scottsdale and you'll find a holistic spa. Every single inch of this place is Cecilia's creation. From the chairs, to the herbs and tea served after a treatment its unique and satisfying in every sense of the word.
I sat down with Cecilia to learn more about why she does this work and to learn more about why we all need her touch.
Thanks for listening,
Mathew & Cecilia

LFPWLI: Lisa Connor, How to Get to the Other Side of Unimaginable Grief
In this episode, Mathew, Troy, and Lisa discuss her journey which is full of loss, grief, pain, sickness, change, motivation, determination, healing, and hope. When Lisa was 44, her younger sister died of a stroke. Within two years of losing Jenny, Lisa’s mother passed away tragically due to Alzheimer's complications. Less than 4 months after losing her mother, she discovers her father after he’s passed away as well. Throughout this time, Lisa felt the responsibility and grief grow with each passing. However, she still managed to perform professionally as a Principal and personally as a wife and mom to two kids. Her health declined, but eventually, she regained her strength and felt like she was hitting her stride. Turns out life had other plans, as she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, but battled and survived it like the warrior she is.
Lisa Connor is a warrior. She is an educator, a wife, and a mom. She tells us a story within a story about what it means to grieve as a sister, a daughter, a wife, a mom, and a patient herself. She describes what it’s like to feel as though you've lost everything and still make the decision to keep moving forward anyway. Her story is for anyone dealing with a loss or a diagnosis that makes them feel like there is no way out. She is a living testament to the fact that you can persevere, and if you do there is a life and a light on the other side.
“People get stuck [in grief] because they don't want to live their lives… they feel like they are leaving somebody behind.”
In this episode, you'll hear:
Lisa’s advice for people who are stuck in their grief
What the death of her sister and parents taught her about herself
How these experiences impacted her husband and children
